Luis Muñoz is a composer, violinist and teacher based in Queens, New York City.  With over ten years of experience, Luis has excelled in music and has received both local and national recognition for his talents.  He is a student at the Aaron Copland School of Music, working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Music with Concentration in Composition.

Luis Muñoz is a violinist and composer from Anchorage, Alaska whose journey through classical music has been marked by dynamism and achievement.  Starting on cello with Christine Nees in 2015 he soon after began studying violin with Nina Bingham, with whom he studied for six years.  His talent and dedication led him to excel in various musical endeavors on local, state and national stages.

Luis joined the Anchorage Youth Symphony in 2018, where he served as co-concertmaster from 2020 to 2022.  While in high school, he participated in the ASAA All-State Music and Solo and Ensemble Festivals, where he earned co-principal positions and multiple Command Performance Awards.  In addition, he was a founding member of Ensemble Summa, a professional youth quartet active from 2018 to 2022.

In 2020, Luis made his Carnegie Hall debut as a member of NYO2, participating in the program the following year as well.  He contributed to NYO 4 Youth, a National Youth Ensembles alumni-run initiative raising money for music education, as well as participating in Carnegie Hall’s Voices of Hope virtual music festival.  In 2022, he joined the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America for their European tour, playing in the Royal Concertgebouw, Konzerthaus Berlin, and the Ravello and Lucerne Summer Festivals.

In 2021, Luis joined the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra (ASO) as a substitute violinist, securing a permanent position the following year.  In the spring of 2023 he had his first composition premiere with the ASO, performing the first movement of his String Quartet no. 1 with his colleagues.  Luis joined the ASO and the Anchorage Bowl Chamber Orchestra (ABCO) for their 2024-25 seasons, serving as concertmaster during the ABCO's 11th Annual Kenai Peninsula Tour.  He remains involved with both ensembles.

Luis attended the Aaron Copland School of Music for the 2023-24 academic year, studying music performance with Daniel Phillips and Marcy Rosen, further exploring composition with numerous premieres.  After a year-long break, Luis is back, pursuing his Bachelor of Arts in Music with Concentration in Composition at the Aaron Copland School of Music.  He studies violin performance with Daniel Phillips and composition with Bruce Saylor.
